Cervical screening

Cervical screening is a quick test to check your cervix for the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

Cervical screening is offered to women and anyone with a cervix who is aged between 25 and 64.

If you are registered with your GP as female you will automatically receive an invitation by mail. If you are a trans man (assigned female at birth) you will not receive an invitation if registered as male with your GP, but you are still entitled to screening if you have a cervix.

Most cervical screening is done in your GP surgery by a female nurse or doctor.

More information about cervical screening can be found on the NHS website.

An easy read guide to cervical screening has been put together by the NHS.
